BRITISH COLUMBIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)
BCIT is in Canada, not the United Kingdom, so the student immigration process uses a Canadian study permit and Provincial Attestation Letter rather than a UK CAS.
Background and Location
The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is a public polytechnic institute established in 1964 and operating under British Columbia’s College and Institute Act. Its main campus is in Burnaby (3700 Willingdon Avenue), in Metro Vancouver. Other campuses include the Downtown Campus in Vancouver, the Aerospace Technology Campus in Richmond, the Marine Campus in North Vancouver, and the Annacis Island Campus in Delta.
BCIT focuses on applied, career-oriented education rather than traditional research-university study. It offers certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, bachelor’s degrees and a smaller number of master’s programmes, plus apprenticeship and trades training. Fields include business and media, computing and information technology, engineering and electronics, construction and the environment, health sciences, energy, transportation (aerospace, marine and automotive), and applied sciences.
Many programmes use a full-time cohort model with fixed schedules; flexible (part-time or course-by-course) options also exist. International students attend from many countries and can access dedicated advising. Eligible programmes may qualify graduates to apply for Canada’s Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Entry Requirements for International Students
Requirements are programme-specific and listed on each programme page. Official transcripts are required.
(i) Diploma, certificate and undergraduate (bachelor’s) entry
Applicants from Nigeria and Ghana normally present senior secondary results (WAEC/WASSCE or NECO) showing successful completion of upper secondary education (generally 12 years) together with the Grade 11/12-equivalent subjects required by the programme (often English, Mathematics and relevant sciences). Competitive grades are expected; many technology and business programmes look for solid passes (commonly C6 or better in key subjects, with higher marks preferred).
Prior post-secondary study (OND, HND, diploma or university credits) may be considered for advanced placement or top-up-style entry where the syllabus matches. Bachelor’s programmes may require a relevant diploma or specified post-secondary credits plus subject prerequisites.
(ii) Postgraduate / master’s programmes
These are limited in number. Applicants normally need a relevant bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma from a recognised institution, with a competitive average, plus any stated work experience or technical prerequisites. Credential assessment may be requested.
English language: Most programmes require demonstrated proficiency, commonly IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 86 (no subscore below 20), or Duolingo 120 (no band below 95).
Exact scores vary by programme. English-medium secondary schooling in an approved context may be considered in some cases; otherwise a test or BCIT English upgrading (such as EPAS) is needed. Always confirm the programme page.
Mode of Application
International applicants apply online through the BCIT website for full-time cohort programmes open to international students. Steps normally include selecting an eligible programme, submitting the application with transcripts and supporting documents, paying any stated application fee, and responding to an offer.
After an offer, a non-refundable commitment fee of CAD $6,000 is required to secure the seat. Applicants then receive a Letter of Acceptance. For most study-permit applications from outside Canada, a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from British Columbia is also required; BCIT advises accepted students on the PAL process. Intakes occur at different points in the year depending on the programme. Ademodupe Education can assist with programme selection, document preparation and submission. Programmes close when full, so early complete applications are advisable.
Fees (International Students)
Tuition is charged by term for full-time cohort programmes and varies by programme and year of entry.
Recent sample estimates for full diploma-length programmes often fall in the approximate range of CAD $45,000–$65,000 total (roughly CAD $20,000–$25,000+ per year depending on length and field), with computing, engineering and degree programmes frequently at the higher end. Ancillary, student-association and U-Pass transit fees are additional. Books and supplies are extra.
BCIT publishes multi-year international differential fee guidance (increases have been indicated in the region of up to 7% in some forward years) and provides a Tuition Estimator on its website for 2026/27 planning figures. Flexible Learning courses are typically charged at a multiple of the domestic per-credit rate. A CAD $6,000 commitment fee secures the seat after an offer and is applied toward tuition. Living costs in Metro Vancouver are relatively high; budget carefully beyond tuition. Exact figures must be taken from the current programme estimator or offer.
Study Permit Requirements (Canadian equivalent of visa documentation)
BCIT does not issue a UK-style CAS. International students normally need:
- A Letter of Acceptance from BCIT (a Designated Learning Institution).
- A Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) where required under current Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) rules.
- Proof of funds covering tuition and living expenses (IRCC sets minimum amounts that change periodically).
- A valid passport, biometrics, and an immigration medical examination from a panel physician when required.
- Payment of the study-permit application fee.
BCIT requires proof of a valid study permit naming the institute (or linked to it) before the programme start, typically at least seven days prior. Many BCIT programmes are PGWP-eligible; eligibility must be checked against current IRCC criteria and the specific programme before applying. Processing times from Nigeria and Ghana vary.
Rankings and Comparison
BCIT is a polytechnic and is not usually ranked in the main QS or Times Higher Education world university tables, which focus on research universities. In Canadian applied and student-outcome comparisons it is frequently recognised for graduate employment (provincial outcomes reports have cited employment rates around 90% or higher for diploma and certificate graduates) and co-op or work-integrated learning. It has appeared in CourseCompare lists among stronger Canadian options for international students and co-op.
Compared with large research universities in British Columbia (such as the University of British Columbia or Simon Fraser University), BCIT is more hands-on and industry-aligned, often shorter for diploma credentials, and more focused on immediate technical employment than on academic research rankings. Compared with UK universities previously profiled for Ademodupe Education applicants, BCIT offers a Canadian pathway with potential PGWP work rights after eligible programmes, but living costs in Vancouver are higher than in many UK regional cities and the credential mix emphasises diplomas and applied degrees.
Specialties and Why Applicants from Nigeria and Ghana Should Consider It
Strengths include aerospace maintenance and technology, civil and mechanical engineering technology, computing and cybersecurity, construction and building science, business and supply-chain management, health technologies, marine studies, and skilled trades. Learning is practical, with workshops, labs, aircraft and industry-standard equipment, and many programmes include co-op or work experience.
Reasons for West African applicants include clear applied routes that value WAEC/WASSCE alongside required subject grades, a strong employment focus valued by Canadian employers, eligibility of many programmes for the Post-Graduation Work Permit, multiple campus specialisations in a major Pacific gateway city, and the possibility of progressing from diploma to degree. Metro Vancouver offers diverse communities and industry links in technology, aerospace, construction and trade. Applicants should confirm current PGWP rules, PAL requirements and programme availability. Ademodupe Education can help match profiles to suitable BCIT credentials and prepare the study-permit file.
All fees, entry grades, English scores, commitment-fee rules, PAL requirements and PGWP eligibility should be verified on the official BCIT and IRCC websites before publication or counselling, as they change. Ademodupe Education applicants should confirm the latest programme pages and immigration instructions directly or through their adviser.

BROCK UNIVERITY
Brock University, Canada – Study Abroad Guide for Applicants from Nigeria, Ghana and West Africa
Brock University is in Canada, so entry uses a Canadian study permit and, where required, a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL), not a UK CAS as we have with Schools in the UK.
Background and Location
Brock University is a public comprehensive university founded in 1964 and named after Major-General Sir Isaac Brock. The main campus is at 1812 Sir Isaac Brock Way, St. Catharines, in Ontario’s Niagara Region. The campus sits in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve on the Niagara Escarpment, about 20 minutes from Niagara Falls, roughly 90 minutes from Toronto, and within reach of the U.S. border at Buffalo.
It enrols more than 19,000 students, including learners from over 110 countries. Faculties include Applied Health Sciences, Education, Humanities, Mathematics and Science, Social Sciences, and the Goodman School of Business. The university offers more than 70 undergraduate and more than 50 graduate programmes. Teaching emphasises experiential learning, co-op and community engagement. International students receive pre-arrival, orientation, immigration and settlement support through Brock International.
Entry Requirements for International Students
Meeting the minimum credential does not guarantee admission. Programme prerequisites and competitive averages also apply.
(i) Undergraduate programmes
Applicants from West Africa are considered with the Senior School Certificate from WAEC (WASSCE) or NECO.
- Nigeria: a minimum of 8 subjects.
- Ghana: a minimum of 6 subjects.
A minimum overall average of C4 is required for admission consideration. Specific subjects (for example Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics) must match programme prerequisites at the senior level. Competitive averages are often higher than the minimum, especially in business, sport management, sciences and engineering.
(ii) Postgraduate programmes
Master’s applicants normally need a four-year bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university with a minimum average of about 75% (mid-B) over the last two years of full-time study. Doctoral applicants normally need a relevant master’s degree with a higher average (often around 80%). Professional programmes such as the International MBA may set additional requirements. Individual programmes can ask for higher grades, work experience or a research proposal.
English language: Undergraduate applicants commonly need IELTS Academic 6.5 (confirm current band minimums),
TOEFL iBT around 88, or an accepted equivalent such as PTE or CAEL.
Graduate applicants typically need IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 88 with no subtest below 21. Tests are usually valid for two years. Exemptions may apply after sufficient English-medium post-secondary study. Brock also offers an Intensive English Language Program pathway.
Mode of Application
International undergraduate applicants apply online through Brock’s application system or, where applicable, the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). Graduate applicants apply through the Faculty of Graduate Studies portal.
Applicants report all secondary and post-secondary study, upload transcripts and supporting documents, and pay a non-refundable application fee. After an offer, students accept it in the student portal and pay a tuition deposit to confirm the place. Official final documents must later be sent directly from the issuing authority. Early application is recommended; many undergraduate programmes use a mid-January equal-consideration style deadline, and popular programmes can fill. Ademodupe Education can assist with programme choice, document preparation and submission.
Fees (International Students)
Figures are in Canadian dollars and change by year of entry. For 2025 entry, published international undergraduate flat fees were approximately:
- Arts and sciences: about CAD $39,835 per year.
- Business, sport management and computer science: about CAD $41,646 per year.
- Engineering: about CAD $40,741 per year.
Ancillary fees and a Province of Ontario International Recovery Fee (CAD $750 in recent schedules) are additional. Rates for a first degree are often held for up to five years for students who enter in a given cohort.
Graduate research programmes (many MA, MSc and PhD routes) have been charged on a per-term basis for international students (recent schedules showed roughly CAD $6,700+ per term plus the recovery fee). Professional programmes such as the International Master of Professional Accountancy or International MBA are substantially higher and are priced per programme.
Automatic International Brock Scholars awards are available to eligible first-year undergraduates based on admission average (examples in recent terms ranged from several thousand dollars up to CAD $20,000 in year one for the highest averages, with smaller renewals). Other awards exist. Exact fees and scholarships must be confirmed on the Student Accounts pages before counselling.
Canadian Immigration Requirements for Student Entry
Most applicants from outside Canada need:
- A Letter of Acceptance from Brock (a Designated Learning Institution).
- A Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Ontario where IRCC rules require one; the university advises accepted students on the process.
- Proof of funds for tuition and living costs meeting current IRCC minimums.
- A valid passport, biometrics, and an immigration medical examination when required.
- Payment of the study-permit fee.
Study permits are applied for through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Processing times from Nigeria and Ghana vary. After an eligible degree, graduates may apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP); eligibility depends on programme length and current IRCC rules and should be checked before enrolment.
Rankings and Comparison
In Maclean’s national reputation survey, Brock has appeared around the high 20s overall. In the comprehensive-university category of Maclean’s rankings it has placed in the teens (around 13th in one recent comprehensive table). It is not in the top tier of research-intensive universities such as Toronto, UBC, McGill or Waterloo. The university highlights strong student-satisfaction results in Ontario, AACSB accreditation for the Goodman School of Business (placing it among a minority of business schools worldwide), and past international recognition for sport-related programmes. Graduate employment outcomes are reported as high.
Compared with larger Ontario research universities, Brock is more mid-sized, often more accessible on grades, and stronger on experiential and co-op learning than on pure research volume. Living costs in St. Catharines are generally lower than in Toronto or Vancouver. Compared with UK options previously profiled for Ademodupe Education clients, Brock offers a Canadian degree pathway with potential PGWP work rights after eligible study.
Specialties and Why Applicants from Nigeria and Africa Should Consider BROCK:
Notable areas include sport management and kinesiology, business (AACSB-accredited Goodman School), education, biological sciences and health, computer science, integrated engineering, and environmental and tourism-related study linked to the Niagara region. Co-op and field placements are widely available.
Reasons for West African applicants include published WAEC/NECO rules (with clear subject counts for Nigeria and Ghana), grade-based entrance scholarships, a supportive international office, a campus that is large enough for facilities yet smaller than major-city universities, and a location near Niagara Falls with good links to Toronto. Many programmes can lead toward Canadian work experience after graduation if PGWP rules are met. Applicants should confirm current averages, English scores, deposit amounts and immigration rules. Ademodupe Education can help match profiles to programmes and prepare the study-permit file.
Why Brock University for Nigerian Students?
Nigerian applicants are considered on published West African rules rather than a vague “international” category. Brock accepts the WAEC (WASSCE) or NECO Senior School Certificate and states a Nigeria-specific minimum of eight subjects, with an overall average of at least C4 for admission consideration. Senior-level subjects must still match the programme (for example Mathematics and sciences for business, computing, health or engineering routes). Competitive programmes often need stronger grades than the published minimum, so early subject planning matters.
Postgraduate entry is based on a recognised bachelor’s degree, normally a four-year degree with a minimum average around 75% (mid-B) over the last two years for a master’s, and a higher average for doctoral study. A second-class degree from a recognised Nigerian university can be assessed for equivalency; professional programmes may ask for additional experience.
English is assessed separately in most cases. Typical scores are IELTS Academic 6.5 for undergraduate entry and IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 for many graduate programmes (or accepted TOEFL, PTE or CAEL equivalents). Applicants who have not met the score can use Brock’s Intensive English Language Program as a pathway.
Cost and funding are clearer than at many larger Canadian universities. Recent international undergraduate tuition has sat around CAD $40,000–$42,000 per year depending on faculty, plus ancillary fees and a small Ontario international recovery fee. St. Catharines living costs are generally lower than Toronto or Vancouver. Eligible first-year undergraduates are automatically considered for the International Brock Scholars award, which is tied to admission average and can be substantial in year one, with smaller renewals if grades are maintained.
Practical advantages for Nigerian students include co-op and field placements with thousands of employer partners, AACSB-accredited business degrees at the Goodman School of Business, and strong applied areas such as sport management, kinesiology, education and computer science. The campus is mid-sized (about 19,000 students) with a dedicated international office for pre-arrival, immigration and settlement support. After an eligible programme, graduates can apply for Canada’s Post-Graduation Work Permit under current IRCC rules.
Immigration follows the standard Canadian route: Letter of Acceptance, Provincial Attestation Letter where required, proof of funds, biometrics and a study permit. Ademodupe Education can align WAEC subject choices, predicted grades, English scores and the deposit timeline with Brock’s offer and study-permit steps.
.Brock University offers more than 70 undergraduate and more than 50 graduate programmes across seven faculties. Availability for international applicants, co-op, and intake can change, so confirm the live list on brocku.ca or through Ademodupe Education before further counselling.

University of Zurich (European and Asian Business Management (EABM))
University of Zurich (European and Asian Business Management (EABM)) |
Background and Location
The University of Zurich, founded in 1833, is the largest university in Switzerland and a public research university. The European and Asian Business Management suite is run as executive education, not as a standard faculty bachelor’s or research master’s. Teaching is in Zurich. The full award is a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS), worth 70 ECTS. Shorter Certificate of Advanced Studies routes are also offered. Courses are taught in English by University of Zurich staff and visiting lecturers, including speakers linked with universities such as Oxford, Bocconi and Tsinghua.
The MAS is designed for young professionals who want to work between European and Asian markets, with a particular focus on Switzerland and China. It is not an entry route for school leavers.
Entry Requirements
Applicants need a bachelor’s or master’s degree and at least one year of work experience. The programme has described this as one continuous year, or about 1.5 years accumulated. There is no WAEC or WASSCE route. A Nigerian or Ghanaian bachelor’s degree from a recognised university can be considered if the work-experience rule is met.
English: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 80 for applicants who are not native speakers. Teaching is entirely in English. German or an Asian language is studied as part of the MAS, not as the language of instruction.
Mode of Application
Applications are made directly on the programme site, eabm.uzh.ch. The programme has stated that a recent cohort was closed to new applications, so applicants must confirm the next deadline with the management team before paying any adviser fee. Documents normally include the degree certificate, transcripts, a CV showing the required work experience, and an English-test result. The team advises candidates in English, German, Chinese and Spanish.
Fees and Duration
| Award | Length | Fee | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MAS in European and Asian Business Management | 18 months full time, or 24 months part time | CHF 38,500 | Taught modules, language element, internship or project, and MAS thesis |
| CAS in European Business Management | About 12 full days, January–February | CHF 8,000 | 12 ECTS |
| CAS in Chinese Business Management | About 12 full days, January–March | CHF 8,000 | 12 ECTS |
The MAS runs from September. Fundamentals and Asian business occupy September to December. European business follows in January and February, and Chinese business in February and March, usually on three days a week. A corporate project or internship of about six to eight months is required, preferably in Asia for European participants and in Switzerland for Asian participants. The thesis is written in a group of two or three. Zurich living costs are among the highest in Europe and are not included in the fee.
Swiss Entry Permission
Switzerland is outside the EU. A Nigerian or Ghanaian applicant who will stay longer than the short-stay limit needs a Swiss national visa and a residence permit for study, applied for through the Swiss representation responsible for Nigeria or Ghana. The school letter, proof of funds for tuition and living costs, health insurance and accommodation evidence are normally required. This is not a UK Student visa and it does not lead to the UK Graduate Route. Work rights during study, and any stay after the MAS, depend on the permit issued and must be checked with the Swiss authorities. The internship module does not by itself guarantee a Swiss work permit.
Rankings and Comparison
The University of Zurich ranks among the leading universities in Switzerland and in the continental European research tables. That ranking applies to the university, not to this continuing-education MAS. A MAS is a professional award. It is not the same as a Bologna MSc, an Oxford MSc, or a research degree. Against a one-year UK MSc, it is longer, more expensive in total once Zurich living costs are added, and more specialised in Europe–Asia business. Its value is the curriculum, the internship and the Zurich network, not a global league-table position for the MAS itself.
Why a Nigerian Applicant Might Consider It
It suits a graduate who already has a degree and at least a year of work, wants an English-taught business programme focused on Europe and China, and can fund CHF 38,500 plus Zurich living costs. It is a poor fit for a student leaving secondary school with only WAEC, or for a family looking for the cheapest route to a European master’s. At Ademodupe Education we can help to confirm when applications are open, that the degree and work experience meet the current rule, and that the our client understands the Swiss visa cost before the file is submitted.

COVENTTRY UNIVERSITY
Coventry University – Study Abroad Guide for Applicants from Nigeria, Ghana and West Africa
Background and Location
Coventry University is a public university in Coventry, West Midlands, England, United Kingdom. Its origins date to 1843 as the Coventry School of Design; it became a polytechnic and gained full university status in 1992. The main campus is in the city centre of Coventry, close to the cathedral and cultural sites.
The Coventry University Group also operates Coventry University London (focused on business and related fields), plus CU campuses in Coventry, London (Dagenham and Greenwich) and Scarborough, and international sites including Wrocław (Poland) and Kazakhstan.
It is a modern, career-focused university with a large international student community. Programmes emphasise practical learning, industry partnerships, simulations and employability. Main areas cover business and law, engineering and computing, health and life sciences, arts and humanities, and media. Hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered, with multiple intakes through the year on many programmes. International students receive dedicated support for applications, visas and arrival.
Entry Requirements for International Students
Requirements are course-specific. The figures below reflect the university’s published country guidance and should be confirmed on the course page.
(i) Undergraduate programmes
- Nigeria: WAEC-SSCE grades A to B in five subjects including Mathematics (English minimum grade C). Alternatives include a Federal University diploma at lower credit or an Ordinary National Diploma (OND). Top-up routes may accept HND or certain medical/laboratory diplomas (upper credit, subject to syllabus match).
- Ghana: WASSCE/SSCE grades A to B in five subjects including Mathematics (English minimum grade C). Top-up routes may accept HND at upper credit or a relevant undergraduate diploma.
(ii) Postgraduate programmes
- Nigeria: Bachelor’s degree at 2:2 or 55% and above from a recognised institution.
- Ghana: Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate diploma at 2:2 or higher.
English language: Typical undergraduate requirement is IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5 (or TOEFL iBT 79 / equivalent).
Many postgraduate courses require IELTS 6.5 overall with no component below 5.5 (or TOEFL iBT 88 / equivalent). WAEC or WASSCE English at minimum grade C is accepted as evidence for many applicants in place of a separate test. Some courses set higher scores or require a UKVI Secure English Language Test. Portfolios may be needed for art and design.
Mode of Application
International applicants normally apply directly through the university’s online application system. Undergraduate applications can also be submitted via UCAS.
Typical documents include academic transcripts and certificates, personal statement, references, English language evidence (if required), passport copy and any portfolio. Decisions follow assessment of the complete file. Multiple start dates exist (commonly September, January and others). Ademodupe Education can assist with course matching, document checks and submission.
There is generally no separate application fee for the direct route. Applicants should monitor country-specific guidance and course closing dates, as popular programmes fill.
Fees (International Students)
Fees are set per course and published on individual programme pages (2026/27 figures apply for that academic year). Recent published ranges for full-time international students are typically:
- Undergraduate: approximately £16,800–£20,800 per year, depending on subject (laboratory, engineering or health courses often at the higher end).
- Postgraduate taught master’s: approximately £18,600–£21,300 per year.
- MBA: around £21,300 for the one-year programme (pathway variants may differ).
- Research degrees (PhD / MRes): £16,500 per year (2026/27 overseas full-time rate).
Scholarships and bursaries are available for eligible international students (including group awards); details appear at offer stage or on the fees pages. Living costs in Coventry are generally lower than in London. Exact fees, any annual increases and payment plans are confirmed in the offer and the university’s tuition-fee terms.
CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) Requirements
A tuition deposit must be paid before the university issues the CAS needed for a UK Student visa application. For applicants from Nigeria and Ghana the published CAS deposit is £8,000 (applied toward tuition fees). Some other regions have a lower £4,000 CAS deposit; certain countries require full first-year fees.
Payment is recommended at least three months before the course start to allow time for visa processing. To complete enrolment, students must normally have paid at least £8,000 (or the full fee if lower) and either cleared the balance or set up an approved instalment plan with the first payment made. UK Visas and Immigration also requires evidence of funds covering remaining tuition and living costs. After a successful degree, graduates are normally eligible for the UK Graduate Route (post-study work) visa.
Rankings and Comparison
In the Complete University Guide 2027 Coventry University is ranked 57th in the UK (out of 130) and 12th among modern universities. It holds a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold rating for student experience and Silver for student outcomes, plus an overall 5 QS Stars rating. Subject strengths frequently appear in UK top-30 lists, including health studies, nursing and midwifery, aerospace/aeronautical and manufacturing engineering, information technology, building and certain media and design areas. Guardian tables have also ranked selected nursing, midwifery and film/photography courses highly.
Compared with Russell Group universities, Coventry is generally more accessible on entry tariffs, more strongly oriented toward employability and applied learning, and lower in pure research rankings. Tuition and living costs are typically more moderate than at many London universities. It is often chosen for practical facilities (engineering labs, simulation suites, design studios) and industry links rather than maximum research prestige. Nearby University of Warwick is more research-intensive and selective.
Specialties and Why Applicants from Nigeria and Ghana Should Consider It
Notable strengths include automotive and aerospace engineering (reflecting Coventry’s industrial heritage), computing and cyber security, business and management, nursing and health, art and design, media, and law. Many courses carry professional accreditation and include placements, live projects or simulations.
Reasons for West African applicants include published recognition of WAEC and WASSCE qualifications, possible English-language acceptance via school certificates, a large and diverse international community, multiple entry points in the year, a compact city-centre campus, and strong graduate employment focus. The £8,000 CAS deposit for Nigeria and Ghana is clearly stated. Coventry offers a more affordable base than London while remaining well connected by rail. Working with Ademodupe Education helps with course selection, document preparation, deposit timing and the CAS process.
All fees, entry requirements, deposit rules and deadlines should be verified on the official Coventry University website before publication or counselling, as they are updated regularly. Ademodupe Education applicants should confirm the latest country pages and course-specific conditions directly or through their adviser. at www.ameducation.org Our counsellors are ready to be of help.

ARDEN UNIVERSITY
Arden University, UK – Study Abroad Guide for Applicants from Nigeria, Ghana and West Africa. Arden University is in the UK, so the immigration section below uses the UK Student visa and CAS process,
Background and Location
Arden University is a private UK university focused on career-oriented degrees, flexible study and international students. Full-time on-campus study for international students is offered in Manchester (2 Hardman Street, Spinningfields, M3 3HF) and London Stratford (Turing Building, 3 Westfield Avenue, Stratford Cross, E20 1HZ). The university also offers blended learning at UK sites, distance learning online, and a campus in Berlin.
Manchester is a large, diverse student city with generally lower living costs than London. The Stratford campus is in east London, close to Westfield Stratford City, the Olympic Park and major rail links. Arden reports a large international community and multiple start dates, commonly February, May, September and November. Teaching combines classroom study with online resources. Support includes academic, careers and visa guidance.
Type of Programmes
Programmes are mainly applied bachelor’s and master’s degrees rather than research doctorates. Common areas include business and management, MBA and Executive MBA, health and care management, public health, data science, computing, psychology, project management, and related professional fields. Many routes are one-year undergraduate top-ups for students who already hold a diploma or HND, or one-year postgraduate degrees. Foundation pathways exist for applicants who need extra preparation. Degrees are UK awards; some courses carry professional recognition such as CMI.
Entry Requirements for International Students
Requirements are course-specific and often more flexible than at traditional universities. Relevant work experience can be considered. Always check the course page.
(i) Undergraduate programmes
Applicants from Nigeria and Ghana are normally assessed on WAEC/WASSCE or NECO, plus any diploma, OND, HND or partial degree. Direct Year 1 entry usually needs strong senior-school results in required subjects. Top-up degrees commonly accept a relevant HND, diploma or equivalent higher-education award. Foundation years are available where school results alone are not enough for degree entry.
(ii) Postgraduate programmes
A bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution is the usual requirement, often a second-class award or equivalent. MBA routes may also look at work experience. A medium-of-instruction letter from a recognised Nigerian or Ghanaian university can support English evidence where the degree was taught in English.
English language: For UK campus study the usual standard is IELTS 6.0 overall with no element below 5.5, or an equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) accepted for a Student visa. Arden lists WAEC/WASSCE English at C6 or above, with official certificate and scratch-card verification, among qualifications it may accept. A UKVI SELT is still required for the visa if the qualification used for admission is not a SELT. Tests and exemptions should be confirmed with the university before application.
Mode of Application
International applicants apply directly online to Arden. Typical documents include the application form, academic transcripts and certificates, passport copy, CV in English, and references where requested. There is generally no UCAS requirement for these direct international routes.
After an offer, a tuition deposit (amount stated in the offer) must be paid to secure the place. Remaining fees can often be paid in full or by instalment. Once conditions are met and the deposit is received, Arden can issue a CAS for the Student visa application. Intakes run several times a year, so applicants are not limited to a single September start. Ademodupe Education can help with course choice, documents and the deposit timeline.
Fees (International Students, UK Campus)
Published UK on-campus fees (confirm on the offer, as offers change by intake):
- Undergraduate top-up: £16,000 before discounts.
- Postgraduate: £17,500 before discounts.
Recent welcome offers have reduced eligible fees to about £12,000 (undergraduate) and £12,500 (postgraduate) in Manchester, and about £13,000 and £13,500 in London, for stated intakes. Early-bird reductions may also apply if the deposit is paid by a set date. Online and blended programmes use separate regional fee tiers; Nigeria and Ghana fall in a discounted international online tier, with published programme fees often well below UK campus rates. A deposit is required before a CAS is issued. Living costs are higher in London than in Manchester. Visa fees and the Immigration Health Surcharge are extra.
UK Student Visa and CAS
Arden will issue a CAS after the offer conditions and deposit are met. The CAS is worth 50 points toward the Student visa. Applicants must also show funds for any unpaid tuition listed on the CAS plus living costs (UKVI maintenance rates differ for London and outside London and must be held for 28 days unless an exemption applies), and meet English-language rules, usually with a SELT. After a successful eligible degree, graduates can normally apply for the Graduate Route (post-study work) visa. Arden’s immigration team provides guidance, but the visa decision is made by UK Visas and Immigration.
Rankings and Comparison
Arden is a private, teaching-focused university and does not appear in the main Complete University Guide or QS world tables in the way large public research universities do. It has promoted strong National Student Survey results for student experience and industry awards such as EducationInvestor Higher Education Institution of the Year. An Executive MBA has been listed by CEO Magazine among notable MBA options. These are student-experience and specialist claims, not research rankings.
Compared with Russell Group or large public universities such as Manchester, Leeds or Cardiff Met, Arden is generally more flexible on entry, offers more intakes per year, and is often cheaper after discounts, especially for top-up and one-year master’s routes. It is less research-intensive and less widely ranked. Manchester campus living costs are lower than London. Online study is an alternative for applicants who do not need a UK visa.
Specialties and Why Applicants from Nigeria and Ghana Should Consider It
Strengths are business, MBA, health and care management, public health, data science and project-related degrees, with professional body links on some courses. Multiple intakes, top-up routes for HND holders, and recognition of WAEC English at C6 suit many West African profiles.
Reasons to consider Arden include a UK degree without a single annual deadline, Manchester as a lower-cost city than London, published fee reductions for international students, clear CAS support, and the option of online study at regional rates if a visa route is not required. Applicants who want a highly ranked research university, or a long traditional campus degree, may prefer a public university instead. Ademodupe Education can match WAEC or HND results, English evidence and budget to either the Manchester, London or online route.
COURSES AND PROGRAMMES
Arden University offers more than 80 courses. Not every title runs on the UK campus visa route. For study abroad from Nigeria and Ghana, the London (Stratford) and Manchester lists are the ones that normally support a Student visa. The wider list below also includes online and blended options.

- Ghana: West African Senior School Certificate / Senior Secondary School Certificate results are considered. Foundation / Year 0 routes accept suitable passes (typically grades comparable to GCSE A*–C / A1–C6 including Mathematics and English).
- Year 1 entry may be possible with stronger grades (for example A1–B3 in relevant certificates), a recognised foundation, diploma or HND.
- Nigeria: At least a 2.2 (second-class lower) bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution.
- Ghana: At least a 2.2 bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution, or in some cases a master’s or postgraduate diploma.
International applicants can apply directly to the university using the International Student Application Form for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Undergraduate degree: £16,000 per year (most programmes; some foundation-to-health routes £17,000 in year 1 then £16,000).

- PGCE: £14,000.
- Research degrees (MPhil/PhD): £17,600 per year.
After an unconditional or conditional offer is met, international fee-paying students must pay the tuition deposit stated in the offer letter (commonly a significant portion, often around 50% after any scholarship, by the published deadline) to secure the place.
In the Complete University Guide 2027,
- The Guardian University Guide has placed it around 87th in recent tables. It does not appear in the main QS World University Rankings overall table. Subject strengths include Sport Science (frequently ranked in the UK top 15–20 and recognised in QS subject bands), Speech and Language
- Therapy (top 10 in some UK tables), and solid positions in areas such as Architecture and certain design and health-related fields. It was named Times Higher Education University of the Year in 2021.
Why Consider Cardiff?
Key strengths are sport and exercise science,
- health sciences, art and design,
- business and management (including MBA and specialist MSc routes),
- computing, cyber security, data science, education and teacher training.
- Industry-linked teaching, placement options on some courses, and entrepreneurship support are emphasised.
